New Delhi: BJP chief Amit Shah has met the party presidents of the states heading to polls later this year, on the sidelines of the on-going BJP national executive meeting in the national capital.

Shah, it is learnt, took stock of the poll preparedness of these state units in a meeting Saturday evening, which was attended by the party state presidents of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Mizoram and Telangana.

As part of the poll preparations in these states, Shah also held discussions with the party chief ministers of these states last night.  A detailed discussion on the distribution of tickets is also likely to take place soon, party sources said.

The BJP believes that the upcoming assembly polls in Rajasthan, MP, Chhattisgarh, Telangana and Mizoram could be crucial in the preparation for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. It hopes that a good performance in these states will provide a much-needed morale boost to its cadre ahead of the general elections.

Party state chiefs brief national executive

Many BJP state presidents also briefed the national executive meeting on the status of the party in their respective states along with crucial issues ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.

“Assam briefed the national executive that they have got panna pramukhs across booths, a first for the state. The West Bengal president spoke on the murders of the BJP workers,” union HRD minister Prakash Javdekar said.   “West Bengal claimed that many pracharaks have come out of the state that has witnessed political violence,” he added.

Other state presidents told the gathering on their roadmap of spreading awareness about the Modi government schemes.

This would be the second poll preparedness meeting of the state presidents in less than a month’s time. The first meeting was held in August when chief ministers of all states had come to the national capital for a meeting held at BJP headquarters.
