‘Saheb knows this’, Prashant Kishor objects as Modi enjoys victory lap in poll-bound Gujarat

Kishor said Modi’s hope that 2022 wins would show the way for 2024 was a ‘false narrative’. Battle for India would be fought and decided in 2024, he said.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi soaked up the people’s adulation in an open-jeep ride in Gandhinagar, Gujarat on Friday, a day after his party registered a stupendous victory in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur.

The Prime Minister had declared Thursday that the state results had ensured the income of the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

It was therefore predictable that Modi would hold his first victory rally in his home state that is bound for polls this December, along with Himachal Pradesh.

The PM’s two-day Gujarat tour is packed with events, the most important of which is the Gujarat Panchayat Mahasammelan which will be attended by the three tiers of the panchayat institutions.

The PM waved at thousands of supporters who lined his path from the airport to Kamalam, the BJP state headquarters in Gandhinagar.

Modi had tweeted in the morning: “Leaving for Gujarat, where I will be attending various programmes today and tomorrow. At 4 PM today, will address a Panchayat Mahasammelan, where several representatives from Panchayati Raj institutions will attend.”

Modi will also address the first convocation of the Rashtriya Rakhsha University and declare open the 11th Khel Mahakumbh.

The BJP wrapped up a historical second consecutive win in Uttar Pradesh Thursday with over 270+ seats – an emphatic performance in an election many consider the semi-finals to the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. The BJP also re-won Uttarakhand, Manipur and Goa decimating the nearest rival Congress.

In his victory speech later Thursday evening, Modi described the win as ‘jeet ka chauka’. He said: “It is a day of zest and festivities and this enthusiasm is for India’s democracy.”

He also said: “When we formed the government in 2019, experts said it was because of the 2017 victory (in UP)… I believe the same experts will say that the 2022 election result will decide the fate of the 2024 national elections.”

Poll strategist Prashant Kishor took a dig Friday at Modi’s hope that 2022 had sealed the outcome of 2024.

In a tweet Friday morning, Kishor said: “Battle for India will be fought and decided in 2024 and not in any state elections. Saheb knows this! Hence this clever attempt to create frenzy around state results to establish a decisive psychological advantage over opposition. Don’t fall or be part of this false narrative.”

Kishor rose to prominence in 2014 when he helped the BJP craft its poll strategy, but over the years he has been seen more in opposition camps.
