Chandigarh: Manohar Lal Khattar continues to be one of the few politicians who does not own a car, has not purchased any land or even a house in the past five years that he has been Haryana Chief Minister even as his bank balance saw a 10-fold jump during this period.
The revelations were made Tuesday when Khattar declared his assets while filing his nomination papers from Karnal in the presence of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and other BJP leaders.
According to the affidavit, Khattar’s moveable assets grew from Rs 8 lakh in 2014 to Rs 94 lakh this year. The document also mentions that he has sold eight kanals of land out of his 20 at Kalanaur in Rohtak district.

No car or new purchase of land
The total income declared by Khattar in the fifth year of his chief ministership (2018-19) is about Rs 29 lakh. It is less than what he had earned in 2017-18 when he got over Rs 31 lakh. In 2016-17, the CM had earned about Rs 35 lakh, a huge jump from his 2015-16 income of Rs 6 lakh. In the first year of his tenure as a CM (2014-15), Khattar’s income was over Rs 11 lakh.
In his 2014 election affidavit, Khattar had declared an annual income of Rs 2.73 lakh for 2013-14. His moveable assets in bank accounts totalled Rs 2.29 lakh. The CM had advanced a loan of Rs 5 lakh and another Rs 1 lakh in cash which made his moveable assets aggregate to a total of Rs 8.29 lakh that year.
Khattar did not a own a car even then and hasn’t purchased any immoveable property since he became chief minister in 2014. He owns 12 kanals of inherited land in Rohtak which is worth Rs 30 lakh, as compared to 20 kanals which was worth Rs 50 Lakh in 2014.
He does not posses non-agricultural land or any commercial building but owns an ancestral house in Rohtak. No fresh construction has been undertaken by the chief minister in this house, the market value of which is around Rs 3 lakh.
The chief minister does not have any criminal case against him either. A graduate of Delhi University, Khattar had described his occupation as a farmer in 2014, his other source of income then was from tuition classes.

What shoddy journalism! Ten times sounded like the guy is corrupt and minting money in millions of dollars if not billions as the Nehru Gandhi family, Sharad Pawar, Jayalalita, etc. have done.
The Print is chasing honest leaders the same ways that Bombay ‘Blitz’ of sixties and Tehelka.com used to chase and manufacture charges for higher circulation or these days web visits.
I think it is cheap journalism. Neither Blitz nor Tehelka succeeded. Both are on a heap of a garbage. The Print will hit the garbage heap soon.
His salary is 1 lakh per month..so total 60 lakh he has earned ..u should mentions that before putting false titles.
Yes. The article states “10 fold increase”. I expected something like 1500 crores. This is just an increase of 86 lakhs over 5 years. Even I can save that much with official accomodation, official car etc. Totally misleading article. Kahan se aate hai aise journalists.
