Mumbai: Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan on Thursday condemned the detention of noted historian Ramchandra Guha during a protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).
Guha was detained in Bengaluru earlier in the day when he and many others defied prohibitory orders to protest against the CAA.
“One of the prominent historians of our time and Gandhiji’s biographer Ramchandra Guha arrested for peaceful CAA protests. Why this Government is scared of students, academicians, scientists who disagree and express their dissent? I strongly condemn his detention,” Chavan said in a tweet.
