In today’s featured cartoon, R. Prasad compares Niti Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant’s ‘too much democracy’ statement to literary hero Don Quixote’s famous fear of windmills. In the seminal Spanish novel by Miguel de Cervantes, the eponymous hero and his squire Sancho Panaz attack windmills believing them to be “hulking giants”. Since then, the phrase ’tilting at windmills’ has been used to refer to imaginary enemies.

Sandeep Adhwaryu also draws on Kant’s statement and 83-year-old detained activist Stan Swamy’s long wait for a straw to comment on the state of democracy today.
