The best cartoons of the day, chosen by editors at ThePrint.

The selected cartoons appeared first in other publications, either in print or online, or on social media, and are credited appropriately.

The first cartoon, by Mika Aziz for The Indian Express, takes a jab at the Karnataka governor inviting the BJP’s B.S. Yeddyurappa to form the government despite the party not having a majority.

The next cartoon, by Sandeep Adhwaryu for The Times of India, draws on allegations that democracy has been the only victim in the ongoing Karnataka tug-of-war.

In Greater Kashmir, Suhail Naqshbandi points out that the Ramzan ceasefire is held up by battered hopes for peace.

In Mail Today, Satish Acharya shows the governor of Karnataka purportedly reading the Indian Constitution while actually leafing through the ‘Karnataka rule book’, with bookmarks marking similar guides for Manipur and Goa, where the BJP formed the government despite the Congress emerging as the single largest party.

Cartoonist Irfan, meanwhile, shows Karnataka CM B.S. Yeddyurappa referring to the BJP’s ‘shopping list’ following a Supreme Court directive seeking the list of MLAs that support the party. This is a reference to the allegations of horse-trading against the BJP.
