Sajith Kumar, referring to a comment made by the Supreme Court in June this year, comments on how 11 convicts in the 2002 Bilkis Bano gang-rape and murder case were feted upon their release from jail. The court, while rejecting a plea by the wife of slain Congress leader Ehsan Jafri challenging the exoneration of PM Narendra Modi in a 2002 Gujarat riots case, had observed that the plea was filed “to keep the pot boiling”.
