Kollam (Keralam), Sep 26 (PTI) Youth Congress workers staged a protest and waved black flags at Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s convoy while it was on its way from Kollam to Kundara here on Saturday, police said.
Shah arrived in Kollam to attend two events in the district, at Kundara and Vallikavu.
He landed by helicopter at the Ashramam ground and travelled by road to Kundara to attend an event organised by the National Cooperative Consumers’ Federation of India Limited (NCCF).
According to police, a group of Youth Congress workers came onto the road and waved black flags as the convoy was passing through the area.
The group was led by Youth Congress leader Binu Chulliyil.
The protesters also raised slogans against Shah and the Union government, police said.
Police intervened and prevented the protesters from stopping the convoy.
Officials said the movement of Shah’s convoy was not affected by the protest.
They were later arrested and removed from the spot.
Police said some BJP workers at the spot also tried to intervene, but both groups were prevented from confrontation.
