Noida, Apr 22 (PTI) Asserting that women’s reservation will end dynastic politics, Uttar Pradesh BJP president Pankaj Chaudhary said on Wednesday that the provision of a 33 per cent quota for women under the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam’ would mark a decisive shift in India’s political landscape.
“Women’s reservation will end the politics of dynasties. When women take charge, family-based politics will come to an end,” Chaudhary told reporters in Noida.
He said meaningful participation of women is essential for building a developed nation.
Chaudhary, also the Union Minister of State for Finance, said the country can’t progress without the active involvement of half its population.
He said women have long awaited adequate representation in Parliament and state legislatures.
Targeting the Samajwadi Party (SP) and Congress over their opposition to the bill, Chaudhary alleged that such parties were driven by dynastic interests.
He said the reservation policy would dismantle entrenched political legacies.
The BJP leader said the demand for women’s reservation has been pending for three to four decades and credited the current dispensation for pushing it forward.
He also highlighted that several government schemes, including housing and cooking gas initiatives, have prioritised women as primary beneficiaries.
Calling for “Empowered Women, Prosperous Society”, Chaudhary said Prime Minister Narendra Modi is committed to enhancing women’s political participation and ensuring their dignity, safety and rights.
He slammed the previous SP government in Uttar Pradesh for deteriorating law and order before 2017 and termed demands for religion-based reservation for Muslim women as “unconstitutional”.
Chaudhary accused opposition parties of attempting to mislead and delay women’s empowerment. The union minister also described Noida as one of the fastest-developing cities in the country, noting women’s significant contribution. PTI COR KIS ASD ASD ASD
