New Delhi, Sep 26 (PTI) An Assamese woman lawyer practising here was allegedly assaulted by a group of people in central Delhi amid an ongoing property dispute, police said on Saturday, while cases have also been registered in the matter.
The woman was allegedly assaulted in the Prasad Nagar area on Friday in the presence of police personnel, with a purported video showing her in tears after the incident. The group allegedly also questioned why people from the northeast should come to Delhi for work.
Police said the woman lawyer was representing a person identified as “Dollar Baba” in a property dispute.
The woman has also filed a complaint alleging molestation.
An FIR is being registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita based on the complaint, police said.
A parallel complaint alleging assault was also filed by the other group involved in the property dispute, following which a cross-FIR has been registered against the first group, they said.
Police said the matter involves an ongoing legal dispute between the two groups over a property in Prasad Nagar.
