Jalpaiguri (WB), Nov 2 (PTI) A woman was injured in an attack by a leopard in Jalpaiguri district, officials said on Monday.
The woman, identified as Basanti Roy, had gone to harvest paddy in a field located close to the forest in the Garkhuta area when a leopard, which was reportedly hiding in the field, suddenly pounced on her on Sunday.
Hearing her scream for help, local residents rushed to the spot, after which the leopard fled.
Residents rescued Roy and took her to Dhupguri Sub-Divisional Hospital, where she is currently undergoing treatment.
Forest department personnel visited the hospital to enquire about Roy’s health condition. PTI COR SUS RG
