Gurugram, Sep 26 (PTI) A 22-year-old woman was found hanging from a ceiling fan at a paying guest accommodation in Gurugram’s Islampur village, with her mother alleging that her live-in partner murdered her, police said.
The deceased was identified as Tanisha, a resident of Jalalpur village in Uttar Pradesh’s Etah district.
According to police, Tanisha was in a live-in relationship with Chetan Sharma, a resident of the same district. The two had been friends for several years and were living together at the PG in Sector 38.
During questioning, Sharma told police that he worked for a private company and had gone to work on Friday afternoon.
He said Tanisha had called him during the afternoon, but he could not answer as he was busy. When he called her back later, she did not respond.
After repeated calls went unanswered, Sharma asked their neighbour, Anuj, to check on her, police said.
Anuj allegedly found Tanisha hanging from the ceiling fan when he looked through the window.
Her family members arrived after being informed and submitted a written complaint to the police, accusing Sharma of murdering her and hanging her body, they added.
A senior police officer said the body was handed over to the family after a post-mortem examination conducted by a board of doctors.
“Further action will be taken based on the family’s complaint and the post-mortem report. We are conducting a thorough investigation into the matter,” the officer said. PTI COR MDO
