Woman dies of bullet injury in J&K’s Kishtwar

Jammu, Jul 19 (PTI) A 35-year-old woman was killed after being hit by a bullet from the weapon of a village defence guard in a remote village in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district, officials on Saturday said.

Pushpa Devi, the wife of Rakesh Kumar, ventured out of her house in Aragam village in Chatroo area when she was hit by a bullet from the gun of Village Defence Guard (VDG) Sandeep Kumar late Friday, they said.

The officials said that the woman died on the spot.

A case has been registered and the accused has been taken into custody, they said.

Further investigation is underway to ascertain the cause of firing – whether the bullet was fired deliberately or accidentally, the officials said. PTI TAS AS AS
