Bulandshahr (UP), Aug 27 (PTI) A woman was arrested here for allegedly strangling her alcoholic husband to death with a scarf, officials said on Thursday.
The arrested woman has been identified as Preeti Kumari (35), a resident of the Bahlimpura area in Bulandshahr.
Police said the woman informed them about her husband’s death through the emergency helpline number Dial 112 on Tuesday. She told the officers that her husband Krishna Kumar (36) passed away due to excessive alcohol consumption.
Following this, local police and a forensic team inspected the spot and collected evidence. In the ensuing investigation, it was revealed that Krishna Kumar was allegedly killed by Preeti herself.
She was arrested on Wednesday, the officials said.
Preeti told police that her husband frequently drank alcohol and assaulted her, prompting her to kill him, they said.
Concurrently, a video of the couple had been circulating on social media, showing Preeti assaulting her husband.
City Circle Officer Prakhar Pandey said the viral video was shot on August 19 and was not related to the murder.
