Bhopal, Mar 10 (PTI) The Madhya Pradesh government on Tuesday formed a three-member committee, comprising Deputy Chief Minister Jagdish Devda and two ministers, to assist residents from the state who are currently in West Asia amid the ongoing crisis, and also to monitor the gas and oil supply situation.
The state government issued an order to this effect hours after Chief Minister Mohan Yadav held a review meeting here to take stock of the situation arising out of the West Asia conflict.
During the meeting, the CM said people need not worry about the supply of gas and oil as there was adequate stock of these essential commodities in the state.
Talking to PTI, Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) to Chief Minister, Neeraj Mandloi, said the government issued the order regarding the formation of the committee, which will comprise Deputy CM Devda, who holds the finance portfolio, Food and Civil Supplies Minister Govind Singh Rajput, and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Minister Chaitanya Kashyap.
The food and civil supplies department’s ACS will be the secretary of the committee, while the secretaries of finance and MSME departments will be the permanent invitee of the panel, he said.
The committee will hold meetings from time to time as per the directions of the central government and discuss ways to provide help to residents from the state who are currently in West Asia.
Besides, it will also give recommendations to ensure availability of the petroleum products, LPG and other essential commodities in the state.
During the review meeting, CM Yadav said there is no need for anyone to worry or panic about food, gas or oil supplies.
Officials have been asked to ensure the best possible management in the state, he was quoted as saying in a statement.
The central government is closely monitoring the situation. Under its guidance, no supply-related problems are being faced anywhere in the country, including Madhya Pradesh, he said.
Proper management will be ensured in Madhya Pradesh to address the current situation in view of the challenges being faced by the world and the country.
“A three-member committee of ministers and officials will monitor the state’s supply system and take all steps to maintain it,” Yadav said.
The MP government has been in constant touch with the central government for the safe return of Indian citizens, especially natives of Madhya Pradesh either living in the Gulf countries or who went there on work visa or for tourism, according to him.
So far, 255 people have contacted the state government through the helpline, and efforts are being intensified for their safe return, he said.
Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla along with ministers, Chief Secretary in-charge Dr Rajesh Rajora, Director General of Police Kailash Makwana and other senior officials attended the meeting. PTI MAS NP
