Dehradun, Jun 17 (PTI) A major fire broke out on the third floor of a commercial establishment in the busy Paltan Bazar area here on Wednesday morning, police said.

Goods worth lakhs were destroyed, but no casualty was reported, they said.

According to Kotwali Nagar Police, after receiving the information, a police team and four fire tenders from the Dehradun fire station were rushed to the spot, and relief and rescue operations were launched immediately.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control after a sustained effort.

According to preliminary assessment, the fire broke out while welding work was underway for installation of a lift on the building premises.

The building housed a garment shop, which used the third floor as its godown. The entire stock in the godown was destroyed, they said.

Police said an assessment of the financial loss is being carried out, and a probe has been initiated to confirm the exact cause of fire. PTI AKY AKY RUK RUK
