New Delhi, May 26 (PTI) The Congress on Tuesday named Wazed Ali Choudhury as the leader of its Legislature Party in Assam.
Joy Prakash Das has been appointed the deputy leader of the Congress Legislature Party in the state, according to an official statement.
“Congress President has approved the proposal for the appointment of Leader and Deputy Leader of the Congress Legislature Party in Assam, as follows, with immediate effect — Wazed Ali Choudhury (leader) and Dr. Joy Prakash Das (Deputy leader),” said a statement from the AICC general secretary (organisation) K C Venugopal.
Former Chhattisgarh CM and Congress leader Bhupesh Baghel had said last week in Guwahati that the Congress high command will decide the new leader of opposition in the Assam Legislative Assembly very soon.
