New Delhi, Aug 3 (PTI) Vice Admiral Manish Chadha, a communication and electronic warfare specialist, on Monday took charge as the new Director General Naval Operations (DGNO).
In a distinguished career spanning over 35 years, the flag officer has held a wide range of command, operational, instructional, and staff appointments, both afloat and ashore.
His key afloat appointments include command of Coast Guard Interceptor Boat CGS-05 and Indian Naval Ships Veer, Kirpan, and Mysore, the defence ministry said in a statement.
Vice Admiral Chadha succeeds Vice Admiral A N Pramod, who as the DGNO, was closely involved in the planning and operational readiness of the Indian Navy during Operation Sindoor.
Vice Admiral Chadha is a communication and electronic warfare specialist, the statement said.
An alumnus of the 78th course of the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla, he was commissioned into the Indian Navy on July 1, 1991. An alumnus of the 61st Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, he has completed the Higher Command Course at the National Defence University, Washington, the US.
The flag officer also served as the naval attaché at the Embassy of India in Moscow. At Naval Headquarters, he steered several key projects, besides serving as the Director, International Fleet Review 2016.
In recognition of his distinguished service, he was awarded the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal in 2025 and the Vishisht Seva Medal in 2017, the ministry said. PTI KND KVK KVK
