New Delhi, Aug 27 (PTI) The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Thursday launched an appeal seeking public support for relief efforts for people affected by the devastating floods in Nepal.
The toll from the flash floods rose to 362, including three in neighbouring Tibet, with rescuers racing against time to trace hundreds still missing, including many Indian nationals.
At least 290 Indians remain missing and around 200 others are stranded on the Chinese side following devastating flash floods along the Nepal-Tibet border.
The massive flash flood originating in Tibet swept through central Nepal on Wednesday, devastating several towns and villages, washing away critical bridges and crippling a dozen hydropower projects as it gushed downstream, affecting multiple districts.
In a post on X, the VHP urged people to come forward and contribute towards its “Nepal Flood Relief Campaign”, saying thousands of people have been affected, with many missing and lakhs displaced in the floods.
VHP national spokesperson Vinod Bansal told PTI that the organisation is seeking public support to extend assistance to the flood-affected people in Nepal.
“We are seeking public support for the relief and assistance of those affected by the floods in Nepal,” Bansal said.
