Guwahati, Apr 22 (PTI) Veteran journalist Nitya Bora died in Assam’s Jorhat on Wednesday following prolonged illness, family members said.

Bora was 83 and is survived by his daughter. His wife had predeceased him.

The former editor of leading Assamese daily ‘Asomiya Pratidin’ had suffered a cardiac arrest six months ago, and had been ailing since then.

Bora was admitted to a hospital last week in Jorhat, where he was living with his daughter and her family since his illness.

His body will be brought to his home in Guwahati, and he will be cremated on Thursday.

Several news organisations and associations have condoled his death. PTI DG RBT
