Dehradun, Jun 7 (PTI) More than 31 lakh pilgrims have visited Uttarakhand since the Char Dham Yatra began in April, while 161 fatalities have been reported among the devotees during the ongoing pilgrimage season, officials said on Sunday.
According to the latest report from the State Emergency Operation Centre, Kedarnath Dham recorded the highest footfall with 11,05,676 pilgrims since opening on April 22.
Badrinath Dham followed with 9,08,619 visitors since April 23.
Gangotri shrine received 5,28,406 pilgrims, Yamunotri temple recorded 5,07,421, and Sri Hemkund Sahib registered 55,411 visitors.
Gaumukh recorded 4,697 trekkers, who were included in the Gangotri totals.
On Saturday, 61,262 pilgrims arrived at the shrines, along with 5,511 vehicles.
Officials said 2,89,918 vehicles have used the yatra routes since the start of the season.
The state reported 161 casualties among pilgrims since April 19.
Medical issues and failing health accounted for 152 of these deaths; eight pilgrims died due to other reasons, and one person died from natural causes, said the official data.
During the pilgrimage, Yamunotri reported the highest toll with 78 deaths, followed by Kedarnath (47), Badrinath (20), and Gangotri (16). PTI AKY SMV ASD
