Dehradun, Oct 28 (PTI) Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Wednesday inspected slope stabilisation works on the Srinagar-Devprayag National Highway and reviewed the progress and quality of road repairs under the state’s ‘pothole-free’ campaign while travelling by road from Gairsain to Dehradun after the assembly session.
Dhami also inspected the Haridwar-Badrinath National Highway to assess road conditions and the progress of ongoing construction works, officials said.
During the visit, the chief minister sought detailed information from the engineers concerned about the current status of the projects, the progress achieved so far and the future action plan.
Dhami said roads were not only the primary mode of transport in the state but were also vital for tourism, the local economy and connectivity to remote areas.
“Given this, it is essential to ensure safety on national highways and effectively execute necessary stabilisation works at vulnerable locations,” the chief minister said.
He directed officials and engineers involved in the construction works to pay special attention to quality and technical standards and ensure that progress remained aligned with the established action plan.
“The success of any construction project is determined by its quality, timeliness and utility. Therefore, the concerned departments and executing agencies must work in coordination to ensure that remedial measures are both effective and sustainable,” Dhami said.
He added that particular vigilance was required in matters related to road safety and that all necessary steps must be taken in accordance with technical requirements. PTI SPY NB
