New Delhi: Amid the clamour surrounding American immigration policies and the overhaul of the H-1B visa programme, one man from the United States has sparked buzz on social media—by proudly showing off his five-year Indian visa.

Anthony Louis Klor, who goes by Tony Klor online, is an American citizen, currently in Bengaluru. On 3 October, 2025, he posted on his social media accounts about securing a long-term Indian visa. The posts have since been heavily circulated, especially among Indian users.

“It’s official! India is opening its doors to foreign blockchain & AI builders. I’ve just been granted a girthy 5-year India visa,” Klor wrote Friday on Instagram and X (formerly Twitter). He went on to criticise US President Donald Trump’s stance on “foreigners”, while praising the Indian government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for their “welcoming” outlook.

“Trump says foreigners go kick rocks. Modi says welcome home bhai,” the post added.

This comes at a time of heightened scrutiny around Trump’s imposition of a $100,000 fee on new H-1B visa fees for skilled foreign workers.

Klor even shared an image of his visa on his Instagram story, with the caption reading, “Call me Tony bhai now, you pilgrims.”

According to the image Klor shared, his visa is classified as a B-1 visa, issued on 23 September, 2025, and valid until 22 September, 2030. B-1 is a type of business visa given to foreign nationals to establish an industrial or business venture, explore business opportunities in India, participate in meetings or conferences, recruitment of manpower, and so on, and is given to an individual of assured financial standing anf expertise in the field of intended business. It allows a stay of up to 180 days at a time.

Klor’s posts quickly exploded with varied comments from Indians—some criticising the country’s government for the visa approval, and others praising it and using the opportunity to call out the US H-1B programme.

“First time seeing an Indian visa flex. Iss se acche din aur kya chahiye, bhai?” one X user, Sai Varma, commented alongside a picture of PM Modi.

“India will be the new U.S., Bengaluru will be the new Silicon Valley, Mumbai the new Los Angeles, Delhi the new Washington D.C and Kolkata the new New York,” wrote another user.

“India knows the future is being written in blockchain and AI. A 5-year visa like this sends an important signal-  While others push talent away, India is saying “come build with us,” wrote an X user, Monica Jasuja.
