Thane, Apr 15 (PTI) The new Thane Civil Hospital will have modern infrastructure and prove to be a boon for citizens seeking quality healthcare, said Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Wednesday.
The 900-bed hospital in the Tembhi Naka area will have a rooftop helipad for air ambulances, he said. Officials said it is expected to be operational in three to four months.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a function here, Shinde said, “The new Thane Civil Hospital will be a ‘vardan’ (boon) for common people.” The 10-storey hospital will be equipped with modern infrastructure, said Shinde, who hails from the city.
Thane District Civil Surgeon Dr Kailas Pawar said the building has parking facilities for around 450 cars and 1,200 two-wheelers. It will cater to patients from Thane and neighbouring Palghar districts, he said.
While the civil construction work has been completed, electrification and installation of advanced medical equipment, including MRI, CT scan and chemotherapy and radiotherapy units, are currently underway, said officials.
“The hospital is expected to be inaugurated in the next three to four months,” Pawar said. PTI COR NR
