Kaushambi (UP), Jul 5 (PTI) A 34-year-old woman and her three-year-old son died in Uttar Pradesh’s Kaushambi district on Sunday after allegedly consuming a poisonous substance, police said.

The incident took place within the Kokhraj police station limits, and the deceased have been identified as Sumri (34) and Yuvraj (3), they said.

According to police, Sumri got married to Dhanraj, who works in Gujarat, five years ago, and the couple had two children – Yuvraj and a two-month-old girl named Gudiya.

Sumri’s father, Jaglal, said the couple had a normal married life sans any dispute.

Sumri had gone to her parental home with her children to attend her younger sister’s wedding about a month ago. She had been staying there after the marriage.

On Sunday, Sumri spoke to her husband over the phone, after which she allegedly consumed pesticide along with Yuvraj when no one else was at home.

Upon returning home, Jaglal found Sumri and Yuvraj lying unconscious on the floor. They were rushed to the district hospital, where both died during treatment at around 6 pm, police said. PTI COR NAV ARI
