Sitapur (UP), Apr 19 (PTI) Two minor cousins drowned while taking a bath in a village pond in Manpur area of the district on Sunday afternoon, police said.
The incident occurred in Banni Kharela village in Manpur area, where the boys had gone to bathe amid rising temperatures, they said.
Arpit, 13, and his cousin Kapil, 12, ventured into deep water and drowned, Manpur SHO Ashutosh Mishra said.
“With the help of villagers, both bodies were recovered from the pond and sent for a post-mortem,” he added.
Locals said children in the village often bathed in the pond during summer, but the tragedy came as a shock to everyone.
