Saharanpur (UP), Apr 17 (PTI) The body of a 15-year-old state-level wrestler, severed in two, was found on a railway track along the Kachhari Marg here, with the police suspecting that the boy was run over by a train, officials said on Friday.
According to the Government Railway Police (GRP), the deceased was identified as Anant Badsar, a resident of Shamli district. His identity was established through a mobile phone recovered from the spot, they said.
Badsar was a Class 9 student and an under-15 wrestler who had won a silver medal at a state-level competition and used to regularly practice in Shamli and Badaut, GRP Station House Officer Harendra Singh said.
The police, prima facie, suspect that the boy died after being run over by a train, he said.
Singh said Badsar’s family had reportedly scolded him over an issue, following which he left home and had been missing for the past two days.
The matter came to light on Thursday night when the loco pilot of the Dehradun-Amritsar train informed the GRP about a body lying on the railway track near Kachhari Marg.
The family of the deceased has been informed and the body has been sent for a post-mortem, police said, adding that an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of death. PTI COR KIS MDO MDO SHS SHS
