UP: Pilibhit shopkeeper killed with spade after refusing to give goods on credit; 3 arrested

Pilibhit (UP), Aug 19 (PTI) A 70-year-old shopkeeper was allegedly killed with a spade here after he refused to give goods on credit, police said on Wednesday.

The incident took place on Tuesday night in Narayanpur village under Barkhera Police Station area.

Shripal succumbed during treatment at a medical centre in Bareilly, they said.

The police arrested a man and his two sons in connection with the killing, two of them father-son.

Barkhera Police Station SHO Satyendra Kumar identified them as Sunil Kumar, alias Bhola, his brother Sushil, and their father Mahendrapal Gangwar.

According to the police, Sunil had gone to Shripal’s shop on Tuesday night to buy goods on credit. When the shopkeeper refused, an argument broke out between the two.

Sunil went home and returned to the shop with his brother and father with a spade in hand.

A row erupted again during which Sunil attacked Shripal with the spade, the police said.

The blow struck Shripal on thigh, leaving him seriously injured.

He was rushed to the local community health centre by the police and was referred to a higher facility in Bareilly, where he succumbed. PTI COR ABN VN VN
