Hathras (UP), Jun 18 (PTI) A 24-year-old woman was allegedly strangled on Thursday by a man who later killed himself too in Nagla Bhura village here, police said.
Priyanka lived in the village with her husband Vipin Kumar and the couple’s one-and-a-half-year-old daughter.
On Thursday, Prakash, 26, a villager, allegedly entered her house and strangled her before hanging himself.
The incident came to light when Vipin Kumar returned home from work in the evening.
His daughter opened the door after several knocks only for Kumar to find his wife dead on the floor and Prakash hanging.
A large number of villagers thronged the house after the word spread.
Circle Officer Himanshu Mathur said, “A woman’s body was found lying on the floor while a young man was found hanging. Initial investigation suggests that the man first strangled the woman and later hanged himself.” Mathur said forensic evidence had been collected and both bodies were sent for post-mortem.
