Gorakhpur (UP), Nov 1 (PTI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday assured farmers affected by unseasonal rain and hailstorms that the state government would announce a new relief package to compensate them for crop losses.
Addressing a programme in Gorakhpur’s Chauri Chaura, Adityanath said the state government would take all possible measures to compensate farmers for the damage caused by the natural calamity.
He said the government had earlier compensated farmers affected by heavy rainfall and hailstorms, but acknowledged the assistance was “inadequate”.
“I assure our farmer brothers that the double-engine government will compensate for the crop losses caused by unseasonal rain, excessive rainfall and hailstorms due to the cyclone,” the chief minister assured.
Adityanath said the government would prepare a new package to provide relief to farmers who suffered losses due to the natural disaster.
He further informed that all district administrations had been directed to conduct a detailed survey of crop damage in the affected areas.
Officials have been instructed to ensure that farmers receive relief assistance without delay, he added.
