Lucknow, Jul 21 (PTI) Uttar Pradesh Cabinet on Tuesday approved four key expressway projects, including two link expressways connecting the Agra-Lucknow Expressway with the Purvanchal and Ganga expressways, aimed at further strengthening the state’s expanding expressway network.
The Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, approved the revised and final Request for Proposal (RFP) for the two link expressway projects and also cleared the alignment of the proposed Vindhya Expressway and the Vindhya-Purvanchal Spur Link, an official statement issued here said.
The 50.98-km greenfield link expressway connecting the Agra-Lucknow Expressway with the Purvanchal Expressway will be developed as a six-lane access-controlled corridor, expandable to eight lanes in the future, under the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) model at an estimated cost of Rs 4,775.84 crore, it said.
The second project involves the construction of a 90.84-km six-lane (expandable to eight lanes) greenfield link connecting the Agra-Lucknow Expressway with the Ganga Expressway via Farrukhabad at an estimated cost of Rs 7,488.74 crore.
With these approvals, the Cabinet has cleared link expressway projects worth over Rs 12,264 crore.
The statement further said the tendering process for selecting developers will begin shortly, and the selected agencies will be required to complete construction within about 36 months and undertake maintenance of the roads for five years thereafter.
The state government said the projects are aimed at integrating the Agra-Lucknow, Purvanchal and Ganga expressways into a seamless expressway grid, facilitating faster, safer and more efficient long-distance travel while reducing travel time and fuel consumption and boosting economic activity.
The Cabinet also approved the alignment of the six-lane Vindhya Expressway, expandable to eight lanes, with an estimated project cost of around Rs 26,315 crore.
The proposed corridor will improve connectivity to Prayagraj, Bhadohi, Mirzapur and Sonbhadra districts. The Cabinet cleared the Vindhya-Purvanchal Spur Link (Option-1), an estimated Rs 9,039-crore project that will connect Ghazipur, Mirzapur and Chandauli, further enhancing road connectivity in eastern Uttar Pradesh.
