Lucknow/Bulandshahr (UP), Sep 26 (PTI) BJP MLA from Debai assembly constituency Chandrapal Singh, 62, sustained injuries after the SUV in which he was travelling skidded on the Ganga Expressway in Bulandshahr on Saturday afternoon, family sources said.
Singh is undergoing treatment at AIIMS Delhi, they said.
A video purportedly showing the SUV making several turns on the expressway before sliding towards the side of the road surfaced on social media.
Chunnilal, nephew of Chandrapal Singh, told PTI that the accident took place around 2 pm when the MLA was travelling from Lucknow to Ghaziabad.
“There were three people in the SUV. Apart from my uncle, the SUV driver and the gunner were inside the vehicle,” he said.
Chunnilal said the MLA suffered injuries to his collarbone and four ribs.
“Currently, he is undergoing treatment at AIIMS Delhi. According to doctors, there is swelling, and it will take around two days for it to subside, after which he will be operated upon,” he said.
The SUV driver and the gunner sustained minor injuries, he added.
Driver Natthu Singh, recalling the accident, told PTI that one of the SUV’s rear tyres suddenly burst, causing the vehicle to skid. PTI COR NAV MDO
