Maharajganj (UP), Sep 6 (PTI) Six policemen posted at a police outpost here were suspended after a video surfaced online purportedly showing a man with no links to the chowki cutting a birthday cake inside the premises.
They have been suspended for alleged indiscipline and negligence of duty, police said on Sunday.
The suspended policemen are Sub-Inspector Akhilesh Yadav, the Adda Bazar outpost in-charge, Head Constable Vikas Kumar Gaur and constables Prabhav Gaur, Abhimanyu Kharwar, Ramkrit Yadav and Prashant Kumar.
The video showed that when the man was cutting the birthday cake, policemen, including the sub-inspector, were nearby.
Maharajganj Superintendent of Police Shakti Mohan Awasthi took immediate cognisance of the video and ordered an inquiry by the Nichlaul Circle Officer.
Police said the inquiry found prima facie indiscipline and negligence towards official duties. Further action will be taken based on the findings of the inquiry, officials said. PTI COR CDN SKY SKY
