Lucknow, Sep 3 (PTI) Twenty-six doctors posted at government hospitals and health centres across Uttar Pradesh have been dismissed for allegedly remaining absent for prolonged periods and failing to discharge their responsibilities, officials said on Thursday.
The action was taken on the directions of Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak after the Health Department reviewed cases involving doctors accused of prolonged absence and negligence, according to an official statement.
Departmental action has also been ordered against nine other doctors for allegedly disobeying orders of senior officials and negligence in medical duties, it added.
“The primary responsibility of doctors posted in government hospitals is to provide timely, better and quality treatment to patients. Strict action will continue against those who remain absent from duty or neglect their medical responsibilities,” Pathak said.
He directed officials to regularly monitor doctors’ attendance, OPD and IPD services and the treatment being provided to patients in government hospitals, the release said.
The dismissed doctors include specialists and medical officers and were posted in districts including Firozabad, Aligarh, Ghazipur, Hardoi, Mahoba, Bulandshahr, Lucknow, Balrampur, Mathura, Mirzapur, Jhansi, Bareilly, Gorakhpur, Saharanpur, Moradabad, Chandauli, Mainpuri, Mau, Sultanpur and Muzaffarnagar.
The release also said that the orders for departmental proceedings against nine doctors were issued by the deputy chief minister through the Health additional chief secretary.
