Ahmedabad, Sep 25 (PTI) A 56-year-old man from Uganda was arrested at Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on Friday allegedly with 981 grams of cocaine worth more than Rs 4 crore, an official said.
The accused, who arrived from Doha via Qatar Airways flight QR 534, had concealed the contraband inside his trolley bag’s telescopic handle and plastic support parts, he added.
“Based on specific intelligence, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, Ahmedabad Zonal Unit, intercepted the passenger on his arrival and thoroughly checked his bag. During the examination, white powdery substances packed in polythene bags were found cleverly hidden inside the trolley bag’s telescopic handle and plastic support parts,” an official release said.
The substance tested positive for cocaine, which was seized. The passenger was arrested under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Further investigation is in progress, it said. PTI KVM PD BNM
