Nagpur, May 14 (PTI) Two youth, both aged 19, drowned at the Zilpi Lake in Maharashtra’s Nagpur district after entering the water body for a swim, police said on Thursday.
The incident occurred on Wednesday evening at the lake, located 22 km from here.
The two teenagers, from the Hingna area of Nagpur city, entered the deep water while swimming. As they moved towards the middle portion of the lake, they apparently got trapped in thick mud, struggled to stay afloat and drowned, a police official said.
After being alerted, the civic body’s fire personnel rushed to the spot and fished out the bodies after a two-hour operation.
The deceased have been identified as Aditya Ramchandra Chande and Abhishek Sirsam, the police said, adding that they have registered a case of accidental death. PTI COR GK
