Raisen (MP), Aug 28 (PTI) In separate incidents, two women allegedly committed suicide over Raksha Bandhan festival-related disputes in Madhya Pradesh’s Raisen district, police said on Friday.
Both incidents occurred in Begumganj tehsil on Thursday night.
Sub-Divisional Police Officer Sonali Gupta told PTI that Ruby Gaur (27), a resident of Veerpur village, wanted to visit her parental home in Sagar district on Raksha Bandhan, but her husband Sumit Gaur asked her to wait for two days citing a recent death in the family.
The woman allegedly hanged herself when the husband was away.
Rajni Dubey (52), resident of Shyamnagar locality, had a quarrel with her husband Phoolchand Dubey. She had asked him to buy certain foodstuffs for preparing festival dishes and he told her that he would buy them later, Dubey told police.
They had an argument. When he went to the shop to buy the items later, Rajni allegedly hanged himself.
Further investigation is underway in both cases, SDOP Gupta said. PTI COR LAL KRK
