New Delhi, Aug 13 (PTI) Two minor boys, aged nine and 11, drowned in a rainwater-filled pit in Delhi’s Narela area on Thursday, police said.
The incident took place at 100 Foota near DDA Flats in Narela, where the two children, residents of Bawana, had allegedly entered the pit to play and swim, they said.
Police received information about the drowning, and personnel were immediately rushed to the spot. The children were pulled out of the pit and taken to Satyawadi Raja Harish Chandra (SRHC) Hospital in Narela for treatment.
However, doctors declared both of them dead, police said.
The bodies were taken for necessary medico-legal proceedings, and legal action has been initiated in connection with the incident, police said, adding that further inquiry is underway.
The incident comes amid heavy monsoon activity in the national capital, with several areas witnessing waterlogging and accumulation of rainwater.
