Two men playing football killed in lightning strike in Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum

Chaibasa (Jharkhand), Jun 26 (PTI) Two persons playing football were killed when lightning struck them in Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum district, a police officer said on Friday.

The two persons, identified as Sahil Raj Samad (32) and Ponderam Samad (25), were rushed to a community health centre in Kuchai in neighbouring Seraikela-Kharswan district, where attending doctors declared them dead.

About the incident, police said a group of youths were playing football on Wednesday evening when lightning accompanied by rain lashed the Toklo area.

The two persons were struck by lightning and were taken to a nearby school premises and then shifted to the community health centre in Kuchai, where doctors declared both dead.

Confirming the incident occurred two days ago, Officer-in-Charge of Toklo police station Ankit Kumar said no report has been registered as yet by their families. PTI BS RG
