Two held with drugs worth Rs 6 crore in Gujarat’s Valsad

Ahmedabad, May 26 (PTI) Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) and Valsad Special Operations Group (SOG) have arrested two persons in Valsad district and seized drugs including mephedrone valued at Rs 6 crore in total, an official said on Tuesday. Acting on a tip-off, a raid was conducted on a scrap godown in Vapi taluka, and 2.3 kg of mephedrone and 0.65 kg of another suspected narcotic substance which was recently declared a controlled substance under the NDPS Act were seized, said the police official.

Abdul Kalam (36), a resident of Daman who hails from Uttar Pradesh, and Mehulkumar Makwana (45), a resident of Valsad district, were arrested for allegedly manufacturing and selling narcotic drugs.

Further action was being taken under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, the official said. PTI KVM PD KRK
