Latur, Jul 25 (PTI) Police seized banned flavoured tobacco products worth about Rs 29 lakh in Maharashtra’s Latur district on Saturday and detained two persons, officials said.
Acting on inputs, a Crime Branch team intercepted a tempo on the Lamjana-Tuljapur T-point road in Ausa tehisil around 4 am, police said.
During the search, the cops recovered banned flavoured tobacco products, including sacks of scented tobacco and “Rajratna Kimam”, collectively valued at Rs 28,97,060, they said.
Two men from Telangana who were transporting the consignment were detained, an official said.
A case has been registered at the Ausa police station, and a probe is underway to ascertain the source of the banned products and identify those involved in the supply and transportation network, he added. PTI COR NR
