Shimla, May 16 (PTI) Two people died after a vehicle they were travelling in veered off the road and plunged into a deep gorge in a village under Rohru sub-division of Himachal Pradesh’s Shimla, police said on Saturday.
The deceased have been identified as Virender Singh and Lokinder Singh, both residents of Ranol village.
According to the police, the accident occurred on Friday night near Ranol, when both men were on their way back to their home after election campaigning. The driver lost control of the vehicle, due to which veered off the road and plunged into a deep gorge. As a result, both the occupants died on the spot.
The police team recovered the bodies from the gorge with the assistance of locals. Their bodies were then taken to a local hospital for postmortem, after which they were handed over to their relatives.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shimla, Gaurav Singh confirmed the report and said further investigation into the matter is underway. PTI COR NB NB
