Seraikela (Jharkhand), Jul 19 (PTI) Two brothers were among four arrested on Sunday for allegedly being involved in the killing of a 27-year-old man in Jharkhand’s Seraikela-Kharswan district a day ago, police said.
Based on a complaint by the younger brother of the deceased, Jagannath Gope alias Kada, a police team collected evidence through CCTV footage and apprehended the four accused from an area in the district, Superintendent of Police Manoj Swargiary said.
“The younger brother of Gope has identified some accused. A team led by Sub-Divisional Police Officer (Seraikela) Anubhav Bhardwaj was constituted to investigate and apprehend the culprits. The team gathered evidence from different sources, including CCTV footage, and arrested the four people, including two siblings of the deceased,” the SP said.
Those apprehended are all residents of Bolaidih under Adityapur Police Station limits, he said.
Gope, a resident of Bolaidih Balarampur, was hacked to death in broad daylight on Saturday following an altercation with one of the accused, a senior police officer said.
“A preliminary investigation revealed that Gope had often created chaos in the locality after consuming liquor. The accused attacked him with two rods and a knife after he had created a disturbance in an inebriated condition,” he said.
The police recovered two iron rods used in the crime, the officer said. PTI BS BDC
