New Delhi, Sep 30 (PTI) The Delhi Police has arrested two men for allegedly duping people by posing as representatives of logistics companies and promising to arrange trucks to transport goods, officials said on Wednesday.
The accused have been identified as Aman (19), a resident of Ghaziabad, and Narender Kumar (23), a resident of Kapashera in southwest Delhi, they said.
After the complaint, police registered an e-FIR on September 5.
The complainant alleged that the accused induced him to make an advance payment to arrange a truck to transport goods, but the vehicle never arrived.
Police arrested Aman on September 24 and recovered four mobile phones from him. Based on his disclosure, police arrested his alleged associate, Narender Kumar, from Kapashera and recovered another mobile phone from him. They also found incriminating chats between the two accused.
Investigation revealed that the accused allegedly identified people seeking transportation services through online business directories and other platform listings. They then impersonated representatives of logistics companies and induced victims to make advance payments for truck-booking services, police said.
Analysis of the digital and financial trail led police to identify nine additional complaints registered on the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal involving Rs 1,53,010, officials said.
Police said the accused have so far been linked to 10 cyber fraud complaints involving a total of Rs 2,56,560.
