Amethi (UP), Apr 22 (PTI) A three-year-old boy was crushed to death by a speeding school bus, while a 40-year-old man died in a separate road accident in Amethi, police said on Wednesday.

In the first incident, Ujaib Mohammad (3), a resident of Kazim Ali village under Musafirkhana police station limits, was run over by a private school bus near his house while he was playing outside on Wednesday morning.

The bus, belonging to Growth Public School, allegedly went out of control and hit the child, killing him on the spot. The driver fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle, police said.

Musafirkhana SHO Vivek Singh said the body has been sent for post-mortem and the bus has been seized. Legal proceedings are underway to trace and arrest the driver.

In another incident, Santosh Ojha (around 40), a resident of Medan Mawai village, died after his motorcycle was hit by an unidentified vehicle near Madhavpur village on the Raebareli-Sultanpur highway under Gauriganj police station limits late Tuesday night.

Ojha was returning home after attending a wedding when the accident occurred, police said.

Gauriganj SHO Arun Kumar Mishra said the body has been sent for post-mortem and a case has been registered against an unknown vehicle.

Efforts are underway to identify the vehicle using CCTV footage and other sources. PTI COR KIS AMJ AMJ
