Chennai, May 4 (PTI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin was defeated by TVK candidate VS Babu by a margin of 8,795 votes in the Kolathur Assembly constituency on Monday.

Babu got 82,997 votes and Stalin received 74,202 votes, according to the Election Commission.

Babu said it was TVK chief and ‘Thanga Thalapathi’ Vijay who had won. The victory for all TVK candidates really meant a win for Vijay, he added.

According to the data released by the Election Commission at 6 PM, the TVK has won 30 seats and was leading in 78 seats.

The DMK has won 12 seats and was leading in 49 seats.

Tamil Nadu has 234 Assembly seats and the elections were held on April 23. PTI GDK GDK KH
