Chennai, Apr 30 (PTI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin, AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami and other political leaders extended their May Day greetings, emphasising the pivotal role the labourers play in the state’s progress.
In his message on Thursday, Stalin said, “Labour is a driving force that serves as a fundamental factor not only for the growth of the human race but also for its political and social evolution.” The DMK chief recalled that a welfare board was constituted to safeguard the interests of workers, and a new scheme was introduced to provide subsidies for the purchase of new e-scooters, with an aim of enhancing the livelihoods of workers registered with the board.
Stalin assured that the DMK will forever stand as a true ally to the working class.
In his greeting message, Palaniswami said, “Only hard work can elevate us and it would give satisfaction.” Recalling former chief minister and late Jayalalithaa’s initiative, the AIADMK leader said, “Amma (Jayalalithaa) planned and implemented various noble schemes for the workers.” In a statement, PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss said the world continues to advance, and organisations continue to expand. “Yet, the plight of the workers. who are the very architects of this growth, remains unchanged. They continue to be exploited. We will pledge on this day to build a bright future for the working class,” he added.
Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president K Selvaperunthagai said with firm assurance that the Indian National Congress will always raise its voice for the rights of the working people. I extend my warmest May Day greetings to the entire working class”.
AMMK chief T T V Dhinakaran said, “On this historic day, as working people are stripped of their rights and subjected to oppression, we must stand united to reclaim those rights.
