New Delhi: After she, in a fit of rage, allegedly slit the throat of her live-in partner Sunday, the 36-year-old woman purportedly watched as he bled to death at the home they shared in Loni, Ghaziabad.
The woman, a domestic worker, did not call for help or alert the police. Allegedly, she instead looked for sheets of plastic and rope as her partner of four years lay dead before her in a pool of blood.
She then tied his hands and legs, wrapped him in between sheets of plastic and stuffed his body into a trolley bag, claim the police.
Her alleged plan was to dispose of the body in a crowded place. And so, she boarded an autorickshaw with the trolley bag and asked the driver to drop her off at the nearest railway station, according to the police.
However, Ghaziabad police intercepted her near the Thana Teela Mod police station, barely a few kilometres from her home.
According to the police, the woman invited suspicion when she tried to run away after catching a glimpse of them, looking restless in the process. The size of her trolley bag also added to their suspicions.
After stopping her, they opened the trolley bag and found the lifeless body of her partner — tied with rope and wrapped in plastic — stuffed inside it, police said.

‘Woman claims it was an accident’
The woman, Preet Sharma, was arrested Monday and charged with the murder of her 22-year-old live-in partner, Firoz, a barber.
“The woman was arrested after suspicion arose about what was inside the trolley bag. Upon opening it, we found the man’s body, packed and stuffed into it,” a senior police officer told ThePrint.
The officer added that the woman, during interrogation, “revealed that she was planning to drop off the body at a crowded place”.
Ghaziabad police have booked Sharma under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
“The autopsy report of the deceased is awaited. The woman has revealed during questioning that she kept the body in their house for a while and then planned to dispose of it after packing the body with plastics and ropes,” the police officer said.
According to the police, Sharma was previously married to another man with whom she had a child. The two separated after the child died of an illness. This is when, the police believe, she moved in with Firoz.
Sources said that while Sharma has not disclosed the motive behind the alleged murder of her partner, the police — based on her responses during interrogation — suspect that differences may have cropped up in their relationship over Firoz delaying his response to her proposal of marriage.
“She has claimed that it was an accident but then she didn’t call anyone for help or take him to the hospital. The cut appears to be from a razor which she took from Firoz’s [barber] kit,” the officer said.
