Pratapgarh (UP), Apr 20 (PTI) Three siblings drowned on Monday afternoon while bathing in a pond in a village in Pratapgarh district, police said.

Kandhai SHO Aditya Singh said that on Monday, Rani, 12, Mohit, 9, and Rohit, 6, of Salhipur Kanjas village had gone to bathe in a pond situated near their home in the afternoon.

However, when they failed to return home after a long time, their family members, fearing a mishap, raised an alarm. Nearby villagers rushed to the scene and began searching for the children in the pond, the SHO said.

After a lot of effort, the three children were eventually pulled out of the water, but by then, they had died.

The bodies of the deceased have been sent for a post-mortem, police said. PTI COR NAV SHS SHS
