Three killed, one injured as car hits pole near Veeravalli toll plaza in Andhra

Veeravalli (Andhra Pradesh), Apr 22 (PTI) Three persons were killed and another was seriously injured when a car returning from Vellore crashed into a roadside pole near here in East Godavari district on Wednesday, a police official said.

The accident occurred at around 1.30 am when the car carrying four persons was travelling towards Gajjaram village after completing medical treatment in Vellore, the official said.

“Three persons died, and one sustained serious injuries when a car travelling from Vellore to Gajjaram village crashed near Veeravalli toll plaza at around 1.30 am today,” Kovvur Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) G Deva Kumar told PTI.

According to the DSP, the accident occurred after the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle due to rash and negligent driving at high speed and rammed into a roadside pole.

The injured person was shifted to a private hospital in Rajamahendravaram, where he is undergoing treatment, the DSP said.

Police have registered a case under Sections 106(1) and 125(b) of the BNS. PTI MS SSK
